Dan Hahn retired from the Army as a Major General in October 2009 with 36 years of service. He grew up in Ohio, graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1973 and commissioned a Second Lieutenant. His served throughout the US and the world.
He commanded an artillery battalion during Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1991 and had two assignments in the Pentagon on the Joint and Army Staffs. He served 6 different tours in Europe and one in Korea.
Promoted to Brigadier General in 2001, he had two tours in Iraq; 2003 as Chief of Staff of ground forces and 2006 as Deputy Commander of Multi-National Corps His last assignment (2007-2009) was senior operations officer at a NATO headquarters in The Netherlands with responsibility for NATO Afghanistan operations.
He has numerous awards and decorations including the Distinguished Service Medal and 3 Bronze Star medals. He earned a bachelor’s degree from West Point, an MBA from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and a Masters in Military Art and Science from the School of Advanced Military Studies.
Dan is President of the Board of Directors for the Military Veterans Resource Center, an organization dedicated to help veterans. He served as President of Ohio Western Reserve Chapter of the Military Officer’s Association of America from 2013-14 and is actively involved in support of ROTC and Veteran Support Activities. He has given numerous Memorial and Veterans Day presentations in communities throughout the area since 2010.
Dan is married to the former Carol Charton of East Canton, Ohio (42 years); they have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. They currently live in North Canton, Ohio.
